Record EBITDA in Copper Division Amidst Declining Consolidated Revenue: Insights from Hindalco MD Satish Pai
Consolidated revenue declined 0.6 percent year on year to Rs 52,808 crore, the company reported in an exchange filing on February 13.
The copper division achieved a record EBITDA, up 20% year on year, owing to significant volume growth and robust operations," Hindalco managing director Satish Pai said.
The aluminum upstream business EBITDA increased 54 percent over the previous year, owing to stable operations and decreased raw material costs, "which keeps us positioned in the first quartile of the global cost curve," he stated.
The EBITDA was Rs 2,443 crore, up from Rs 1,591 crore in the same quarter last year.
"While the capital expenditure for the Bay Minette project has escalated primarily due to higher civil and construction costs than initially estimated, the strategic rationale remains firmly in place," a spokesperson for the business stated.
On February 12, Novelis announced that the Bay Minette project would see a 65 percent rise in expenses and a one-year delay. The project will cost $4.1 billion and is expected to be completed by the end of calendar year 2026 or the second half of fiscal year 27.
